English Original
Once upon a time, there was a mouse father who wanted to marry his daughter to the greatest being in the world. But who was the greatest?
"Oh! The sun!" he thought. "He must be the greatest."
The mouse father went to the sun. "Hello, Mr. Sun! I know you are the greatest. Would you marry my daughter?"
"What? I'm not the greatest," replied the sun. "The cloud is greater. When he comes out, I am covered."
So the mouse father went to the cloud. "Hello, Mr. Cloud! I know you are the greatest. Would you marry my daughter?"
"What? I'm not the greatest," said the cloud. "The wind is greater. When he comes out, I am blown away."
Next, the mouse father went to the wind. "Hello, Mr. Wind! I know you are the greatest. Would you marry my daughter?"
"What? I'm not the greatest," howled the wind. "The wall is greater. When he stands, I am stopped."
Finally, the mouse father went to the wall. "Hello, Mr. Wall! I know you are the greatest. Would you marry my daughter?"
"What? I'm not the greatest," rumbled the wall. "You, the mouse, are the greatest! When you come out, I am bitten and full of holes!"
The mouse father was overjoyed. He finally understood. The greatest being in the world was a mouse! He happily married his daughter to the handsome mouse next door.
