English Original
There was a nearly blind elderly lady with three sons, each eager to prove he was the best to her.
The first son bought her a 15-room mansion, certain this was the finest gift anyone could offer.
The second son bought her a beautiful Mercedes with a chauffeur, convinced this would win her approval.
The third son, determined to outdo his brothers, bought her a parrot he had trained for 15 years to memorize the entire Bible. You could ask the parrot any verse, and it would quote it word for word.
The lady told her first son, "The house is gorgeous, but it's far too big for me. I only use one room, and it's too large to maintain. Thank you, but I don't need it."
She then told her second son, "The car is beautiful and has every feature, but I don't drive and I don't care for the chauffeur. Please return it."
Finally, she went to her third son and said, "Son, thank you for your thoughtful gift. That chicken was delicious."
