When the Tang Priest and his three disciples arrived at Mount Pitfall, they encountered a female mouse spirit. Captivated by the priest's handsome appearance, she resolved to marry him.
The spirit transformed into a beautiful maiden and tied herself to a tree, awaiting the pilgrims. Upon being rescued, she spun a fabricated tale to win their sympathy and join their journey.
That night, at a temple, she summoned an evil wind to abduct the Tang Priest to her Bottomless Cave. Discovering their master missing, his disciples tracked him there.
Monkey transformed into an insect to infiltrate the cave. He found the spirit urging the priest to drink wine, hoping to intoxicate him into marriage. Monkey then turned into an eagle and overturned the banquet table, terrifying the spirit. Next, as a fly, he whispered a plan into his master's ear.
Following Monkey's instructions, the Tang Priest invited the spirit for a garden stroll. There, he picked a large peach and offered it to her. Delighted, she ate it immediately. Soon, she was doubled over in stomach pain. Monkey's voice then boomed from within her: "Release my master, or I will kill you!" The peach had been Monkey in disguise. Once the priest was safely outside, Monkey leaped from the spirit's stomach.
A fierce battle ensued between the three disciples and the mouse spirit, leaving the Tang Priest unguarded. Seizing the opportunity, the spirit captured him again and retreated to her cave.
Monkey re-entered the cave but could not find his master. Instead, he discovered memorial tablets for Heavenly King Li and his son, Nezha. Taking the tablets as evidence, Monkey appealed to the Jade Emperor. The Emperor then commanded Heavenly King Li and Nezha to subdue the mouse spirit and rescue the Tang Priest.
Finally freed, the master and his disciples continued their westward journey to obtain the Buddhist scriptures.
