A Bad Dream |

English Original

One afternoon, Ben was playing in the backyard. A big black cat jumped over the fence and lay down among his mother's plants. Ben crept up to the cat, caught it by the tail, and dropped it into a tub of water.

His mother saw this from the window. She called him inside and scolded him for his cruelty. As punishment, she sent him to bed until evening.

Ben soon fell asleep. He dreamed that he had grown very small. A giant cat seized him in its mouth and ran away. Ben kicked and screamed but couldn't escape. Finally, the cat dropped him, and he fell into a big pond. He sank down, down into the cold water... and then he woke up.
