Pangu Separates the Sky and the Earth |

English Original

The sky and the earth were at first one blurred entity like an egg, and Pangu was born into it.

The separation took eighteen thousand years. The light and pure yang rose to become the sky, while the heavy and murky yin sank to form the earth. Between them stood Pangu, who underwent nine transformations daily. His wisdom surpassed the sky's, and his ability exceeded the earth's. Each day, the sky rose ten feet higher, the earth grew ten feet thicker, and Pangu increased ten feet taller.

Another eighteen thousand years passed, resulting in an immensely high sky, an immensely thick earth, and an immensely tall Pangu. Upon his death, his body transformed into the world: his head became the Five Sacred Mountains (Mount Tai, Mount Heng, Mount Hua, Mount Heng, Mount Song), his eyes turned into the sun and the moon, his blood flowed as rivers and seas, and his hair grew as grass.

Thus, the universe and Pangu are united as one.
