This story is from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Zhou Yu, the chief commander of Wu, was a talented strategist but also narrow-minded and intolerant. While collaborating with Zhuge Liang of Shu to oppose Cao Cao, he secretly plotted to eliminate his rival.
During an attack on Nanjun, Zhou Yu was wounded by a poisonous arrow. His wound reopened in fury when he learned that Zhuge Liang had seized Nanjun, Jingzhou, and Xiangyang. As he recovered, Zhou Yu racked his brains to recapture Jingzhou, but each of his schemes was seen through and mocked by Zhuge Liang. Utterly vexed, Zhou Yu lamented with his dying breath, "Since Heaven created me, Zhou Yu, why did it also create Zhuge Liang?"
Upon Zhou Yu's demise, Zhuge Liang decided to pay his respects. Liu Bei, fearing for his safety, sent Zhao Yun with 500 warriors as protection. Before Zhou Yu's coffin, Zhuge Liang personally offered a libation, knelt, and read a heartfelt eulogy. His tears of grief gushed forth, moving all the Wu generals present. Witnessing this profound sorrow, Lu Su thought to himself, "Zhou Yu was narrow-minded and brought about his own end."
