A young blonde woman on vacation in Louisiana desperately wanted a pair of genuine alligator shoes but was unwilling to pay the high prices asked by local vendors. Frustrated by a shopkeeper's "no haggle" policy, she declared she would catch her own alligator to get shoes at a reasonable price. The amused shopkeeper encouraged her.
Determined, she headed for the swamps. Later that day, the shopkeeper spotted her waist-deep in water, shotgun in hand. As a huge nine-foot alligator swam toward her, she shot it and dragged it ashore with great effort. Several other dead alligators lay nearby.
To the shopkeeper's amazement, the woman flipped the alligator onto its back and shouted in frustration, "Damn it! This one isn't wearing any shoes either!"
