The Bishop and the Door Knocker |

English Original

Creighton was walking through a West End square when he saw a small boy trying to reach the knocker on a large house.

"Can't you reach it?" the Bishop asked kindly.

"No, sir," replied the boy.

"Well then, let me help you." The Bishop climbed the three steps and gave the door a splendid rat-a-tat-tat.

The boy glanced hastily at the clergyman. "Come on!" he yelled. "We must both run!"
