A farmer with 200 hens but no rooster wanted chicks. He went to a neighbor and asked if he had a rooster for sale.
The neighbor said, "Yes, I have a great rooster named Randy. He'll service all your hens, no problem."
Randy was expensive, but the farmer decided he was worth it and bought him.
Back home, the farmer set Randy down in the barnyard and gave him some advice. "Pace yourself, Randy," he said with a chuckle. "You have many hens to service, you cost me a lot, and I need you to do a good job. Take your time and have some fun."
Randy seemed to understand. The farmer pointed toward the henhouse, and Randy took off like a shot. To the farmer's shock, Randy mated with every hen three or four times.
Then Randy ran out, saw a flock of geese by the lake, and mated with all of them. He went to the pigpen, then to the cows, mating with every animal on the farm.
The farmer was distraught, worried his expensive rooster wouldn't last the day.
The next morning, the farmer found Randy lying in the yard, looking dead from exhaustion. Buzzards were circling overhead.
Saddened, the farmer shook his head. "Oh, Randy, I told you to pace yourself. I tried to get you to slow down. Look what you've done."
Randy opened one eye, nodded toward the sky, and whispered, "Shhh. They're getting closer..."
