English Original
A nearly blind elderly woman had three sons, each eager to prove he was the best to her.
The first son bought her a 15-room mansion, certain it was the finest gift.
The second son bought her a beautiful Mercedes with a chauffeur, sure it would win her approval.
The third son, needing to outdo them, bought her a parrot he had trained for 15 years to memorize the entire Bible. The parrot could quote any verse word for word.
The woman thanked her first son but said the mansion was too large for her to manage. She thanked her second son but asked him to return the car, as she didn't drive and disliked the chauffeur.
Finally, she said to her third son, "Thank you for your thoughtful gift. That chicken was delicious."
