My father was an exceptional man. He may not have been perfect, but he was a good man who loved us. All I wanted today was to give him a dignified farewell. Is that really too much to ask?
Life is not simple; it's complicated. We are all thrown into a world full of chaos and confusion, a world of questions without answers, with Death always lingering around the corner. We do our best, though we can't always. My father did his best. He always told me to go for what I want in life, because you never know how long you'll be here. Whether you succeed or fail, the most important thing is to have tried. A parent can only point you in the right direction. In the end, you must run your own race and grow up yourself.
So when you leave today, please remember my father for what he truly was: a decent and loving man. If only we could all be as giving, generous, and understanding as he was. Then the world would be a far better place.
