Peter joined the army at eighteen and underwent several months of training to become a good soldier. He excelled in all areas except shooting.
One day, during target practice, all his comrades performed well, but Peter struggled. After shooting nine times without hitting the target once, the training officer said, "You're hopeless, Peter! Don't waste your last bullet. Go behind that wall and shoot yourself with it!"
Feeling deeply ashamed, Peter went behind the wall. A few seconds later, the officer and others heard a gunshot.
"Heavens!" exclaimed the officer. "Has that silly man really shot himself?"
He ran anxiously behind the wall, only to find Peter unharmed. "I'm sorry, sir," Peter said, "but I missed again."
